I am not very new to match nor very old. Been there for about a month now. Let me tell you I am fairly good looking guy and i have been repeatedly told this and would be a good catch for any women. I keep very busy and have no way of meeting girls. In match.com I found that the girls will show the initial interest but then will vanish. After killing my ego and self respect mercilessly I pursued a few girls and could set up appointments with four girls. However, I could only meet up with one in the end as three others were too busy to meet (now I don't understand why busy people who don't even have time to meet up with people put their profile up there and waste other people's time?). INterestingly the girl that I met looked entitrely different from her pics in her profile. When I asked her the reason- she told that those pics are 4 years old....now what the hell is this? And after meeting this girl she started calling me 4-5 times a day...she literally freaked me out.
I have come to realize that whatever it is, the match does not work for guys for sure. I am a firm believer that at my age ( I am 38), the interest and initiation should be mutual. But the situation is while girls rave and rant about their single status, but when a proposal comes along their way, they start acting high and mighty.
I don't know what it is with the girls on the site, I have entirely given up. Surprisingly free site likes Craigslist have always worked for me. I have met some really nice people from there.
